FAQ
What services are offered at the practice?
• Psychiatric Evaluation: Comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for ADHD, sleep, anxiety,
mood, trauma-related, psychotic, and personality disorders, and other psychiatric concerns.
• Medication Management: Thoughtful, evidence-based pharmacologic treatment tailored
to your clinical needs and goals.
• Psychotherapy: Depth-oriented psychotherapy informed by analytical psychology for adolescents and adults, integrated with medication management when appropriate.
What is the difference between psychiatry, psychology, and a therapy?
• Psychiatry: A medical doctor (MD or DO) or practitioner (PMHNP) who can evaluate both physical and mental aspects of psychological conditions, provide medical treatments, and prescribe medications.
• Psychologist/Therapist: A mental health professional with a master's or doctoral degree who provides talk therapy and behavioral counseling, but cannot prescribe medication.
What are the benefits of seeing a psychiatrist or PMHNP?
If you suffer from anxiety, depression, or from a mood or learning disorder, seeing a psychiatrist or PMHNP may make more sense because of their ability to prescribe medication. Regardless, receiving a proper diagnosis and complete treatment plan can be the first step toward a healthier you.
Will I be prescribed medication or do I have to take medication?
Not necessarily. Medication is one option, considered only after evaluation and medical history. Every person and situation is unique and requires a unique approach. Your psychiatric provider will recommend the best course of action for your treatment, which may or may not include medication and/or therapy. If medication makes sense for you, your provider will provide ongoing psychiatric care around prescribing, monitoring, adjusting,
and reviewing side effects, ensuring evaluation and medication management fit together
seamlessly.
How soon can I be seen?
Availability can vary. However, we typically reserve time slots for new patients and can often schedule appointments as early as two weeks from your initial inquiry.
What do I do to make an appointment?
The best way to make an appointment is to email me at nikki@psychsolutionsks.com with your contact information, what you'd like to be seen for, and when you'd like to be seen. Email is the best way because we can't always answer the phone. I do understand that sometimes patients prefer to talk to their provider. A phone call to me at 417-614-3711 is available, however please understand if I am with a patient or it is outside of practice hours I will have to call you back.
After you've made your appointment, please track down the following items and have them with you at your first appointment.
• A photo ID and your insurance card.
• A complete list of current and past medications, including dosages.
• Relevant medical history and previous mental health or treatment records.
Do you have emergency or crisis services?
This practice is an outpatient mental health clinic and does not provide emergency or crisis services. In the event of an emergency, go to the nearest emergency room, call 911, or contact the National Suicide Prevention lifeline by calling or texting 988.
